Facebook is weird.
Just listened to the most shit-in-your-hand-and-smear-it-on-your-face crazy 20 minutes of out-of-context bullshit ever. My head hurts now.
One of my wife’s high school classmates that she hasn’t spoken to in about a decade and a half is a flat-earther. She just watched a YouTube video he posted about it. It was titled something like, “ABSOLUTE PROOF EARTH IS FLAT NASA LIES!”
The video consisted of dramatic instrumental music playing over a bunch of crazy people “debunking” established science with bugfuck insanity. Poe’s law was in full effect there.
My head hurts.

I’m really curious if these people are aware of air travel.

They have an argument for that too. But it’s like they wrote it down and translated it from English to a language that has completely different sentence structure, semantics, and syntax, and then transliterated it back to English. It was less coherent than a presidential tweetstorm.

We had a case in Ontario a few years ago where, during an argument about whether the Earth was flat or not, the dude who thought it was round threw a propane tank into a fire in a fit of rage.
Oddly enough, he’s still the sane one.

Flat earthers are a special kind of crazy. I used to get angry about the whole thing, now I just sit back and let the crazy happen.

I am gonna take a guess that flat earthers when confronted with an irrefutable fact just move onto something else in circles for infinity.

Why? I just don’t get why people spend time and energy even worrying or talking about this? Don’t you have something better to do?

The people who made the video clearly do not.

They are the type of people where the only irrefutable fact are the ones that they create.

I just don’t understand the terminal goal. What’s the point? For example; I have friends on “the left” and on “the right”. We can argue all day about which is right or wrong, or if their making a difference. Ultimately their actively involved in doing something they feel will legitimately help their community and the world they live in. There is a goal, attainable or not.
People that fix up cars, there is a goal,…
People who brew their own beer,…there is a goal ,…
You see what I’m getting at?
Okay, you convince people the world is flat. Now what? Whoopty-do, you convinced a stranger on the internet! What does that solve or actually accomplish?
